Mirroring columns to save time in monday.com

Updated: Apr 26, 2023

Mirror, mirror on the wall. Who is the fairest of them all?

Imagine there was a mirror you could gaze into? That would give you all the answers you seek.

Well with monday.com there might just be just the thing.

Kind of…

While it might not give you all the answers. This clever monday.com feature can help you get a snapshot of what is going across your multiple projects and teams.

When you use a high-level board for a summary of what is important, you can filter out the noise you don’t need to know.

As monday.com experts one of our most common requests from clients is “how do I keep across everything I have going on? Without having to check on multiple boards?”

When you use the Mirror Column feature in monday.com you can share columns across different boards. Bringing the important data you want to track all together in one place.

You can set these mirrored columns to be fully synced at all times. So when you, or one of your team, updates data on one board. It will be reflected across all the boards a column is mirrored to.

You can control what is mirrored so only those with access to the original data will see it when it is mirrored on another board.

Within those columns you can also mirror individual items from one board to another. A change made to an item on one board will be reflected on all the other boards that item is mirrored to. Making it easier for you to keep track of individual items over multiple boards.

Now you might be thinking “what if you have set restricted viewing permissions? Or have a combination of private and shareable boards?”

Well the good news is you don’t have to worry about team members accessing data they shouldn’t see.

You can control what is mirrored so only those with access to the original data will see it when it is mirrored on another board. Which might save you from sharing data you did not mean to by mistake.

You also don’t need to mirror all the information from a column. You can customise the way it displays on your connected board.

When you use a high-level board for a summary of what is important, you can filter out the noise you don’t need to know. So you can focus on what is important. Giving you a birds-eye view of your project.
